History

Operations began in 1986 under the name Tamma Grains, purchasing grain from farmers on behalf of local feed mills. Tamma Grains has a proven track record of delivering goods and services as promised, and the business has grown rapidly since its commencement. Tamma Grains has recently undergone a business re-structure and will now be known as Tamma Grains Australia Pty Ltd. This company is 100% owned and operated by the Packer Family of Western Australia. Tamma Grains and the Packer name have a well-earned reputation for honesty and integrity with growers as well as end users in WA, interstate, and overseas.

Each upgrade of the facility has been completed to a very high safety standard. Since its commencement in 1986, here have been no industrial accidents causing injury to staff. The cell-type nature of the facility allows for storage of smaller tonnages of different commodities, a feature which has suited existing clients who require a certain protein or variety. Tamma Grains also containerizes grain for customers Australia-wide and around the world. The facility is certified by the Australian Department of Agriculture to export grain, and features on-site personnel who are Authorised Officers for the inspection of grain and containers. This is both convenient and cost-effective for Tamma’s customers.

Clients

Customers over the years have included Barrett Burston Malting, Bunge, Cargill, AWB, and Graincorp. Tamma Grains’ ultimate goal has been to align itself with a reputable global player who shares its interest in playing a role in the long term commitment for constant grain supply of WA grains. Tamma also offers the opportunity for farmers to store their own grain on-site, offering a secure and hassle-free alternative to on-farm storage. We have recently entered into a storage agreement with Sudima, a major grain buyer in Australia. Sudima will be posting bid prices delivered Tamma for wheat, barley, and oats this season.
